thanksgiving {in ny}

18 Dec

I know this post is way late. I thought I was going to be able to catch up on my posts faster but hopefully I can get some done this week.

For Thanksgiving, Dan and I traveled to NY to go to his parent’s house. We left Tuesday night when Dan got out of work. We got there late, around 10:30. I pretty much went right to bed.

On Wednesday, Dan and I relaxed for a bit and went for a quick run. His brother, sister-in-law, and niece Abby showed up in the early afternoon. We were very excited to see them because we don’t get to see them very often with how far we live from each other. Wednesday afternoon and evening were spent just relaxing and spending time together. We all read a lot of books with Abby, and she loves her Unkie Dan.

Thursday morning we got up early so Dan and his brother, Jon, could run in the Turkey Trot 5k. Amanda, Abby, and I went with them as support. It was cold and we got all bundled up to wait for them to cross the finish line. We spent lots of time walking back and forth on the wall.

Later in the day, we bundled up again to head to the playground down the street.

Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. A few family members came over and we had tons of delicious food that Dan’s mom made. I was sooo full by the end of the meal. It was a nice, relaxed, family dinner.

On Friday, we just relaxed as a family and spent time together. It was the last day we were all going to be there so we just wanted to spend time together. We like to soak in all the time we get with Abby because she is growing up so fast.

We left Saturday around 12 to drive home. It was a wonderful way to spend our Thanksgiving holiday and it was so nice to see family that we don’t get to see often.

summer fun {trip to NY}

7 Aug

At the beginning of July, we made a trip to Dan’s parents. We were finally going to see his brother, Jon, and sister-in-law, Amanda, and their cute little 3 year old, Abby. We hadn’t seen them since our wedding over a year ago. That is way too long to go without seeing family. And I knew Abby had grown so much since the wedding and I was so excited to see her. I pretty much spent the entire weekend with her and it was awesome. Dan spent more time with his dad and brother but that was good for him.
We played outside a lot. Abby loves her Unki Dan and he helped her climb a tree in the yard.

I went to the playground with Amanda and Abby and snapped tons of pictures of Abby playing. I’m definitely the crazy picture taking Aunt. But I’m ok with that.

We went to the playground on Sunday morning too, before everyone had to head home. Jon came this time too.

Before we left on Sunday, I was hanging out with Abby in the living room and she came over to show me something. I decided to take some pictures of us together because I don’t get very many. I asked her to make a funny face and that is when she opened her mouth really wide. It was amazing. They are some of my favorite pictures ever.

All in all, it was a great weekend at the in-laws and I’m so glad we got to see Jon, Amanda, and Abby. I will not let us go that long again without seeing each other.
